As I have detailed in previous articles, I had the great luck to become caught up with personal computers just as they were emerging widely into our society.  I am a sucker for data and I love organization and structure, so I was addicted from the start.  I got paid for satisfying these inclinations in my initial career, so I became skilled at them.  However, I had a couple of other impulses, as well:  I really enjoyed writing and design.  My employment with PCs gave me the means to engage in these interests but I didn't have the time until I retired from my first career.  If you have the same interests that I do, you may want to consider blogging; it works for me!

The word "blog" is a contraction of the words "web log" a kind of "diary" that is distributed on the Internet.  It doesn't have to be one of those "secretive" types of diaries; it is just information that is published sequentially.  Your blog can be beneficial to readers, or not.  On the other hand, if your purpose is to ultimately make money from the blog, you must publish material that attracts people to the site.  Of course, acquiring income while working from home is what this blog is about!

Blogging is quite a bit different from free-lance writing in several ways:

It is open-ended.  Blogging usually has a topic but the "chapters" (or "posts") don't lead to a wrapping up, or peak.  Every article is a commentary on the blog subject matter that begins and ends in itself.

It is "stream-of-consciousness" writing.  If you want to skip from one idea to another like a Ferlinghetti poem, go right ahead.  On the other hand, if you want to arrange your articles in some way before you begin, even better.  A lot of individuals will be drawn to the systematic presentation of a theme.  Moreover, you can utilize the long-term results as the foundation for an actual "book," or similar traditional publication.

You can get by without rigid goals  You can without doubt enforce writing goals and deadlines on yourself if you desire, but you do not have to do so.  You can post every single day, once a month, or randomly.  You lay down the schedule.

There is no precise fiscal value attached to a blog article.  If you refer to yourself a "freelancer" you imply that you expect to be compensated for a particular piece of work.  Bloggers rarely get remunerated for their articles immediately. A few of them can charge a subscription fee for their blogs, but this is unusual.  As well, as I said above, you may compile some of your posts into larger publications and submit them for sale.  Generally, however, you don't intend to "sell" a blog.  However, you can sell marketing on the blog's website.  That is what this blog is about: make money from home.

One of the major advantages of blogging as a likely career is that it s very easy and economical to start.  If you have access to a computer and Internet link, and you can string a few comprehensible paragraphs together, you can blog.

You can get on your way in blogging in various ways.  I propose beginning with a free of charge "hosted" blog where more or less everything with the exception of the authoring is prepared for you.  I am going to illustrate this approach with a system named "Blogger," but there are quite a few others.

Blogger is a structure owned by Google and is located at http://www.blogger.com.  The Blogger home page will encourage you to log in with your Google account credentials.  If you do not have a Google account you will be proveded the chance to sign up for one. As soon as you register and sign in you can look forward to authoring your initial post within a very short time.  Well, let's get started!
